Siren and the Shield

By David Decker

Recently transferred police officer Eric Anderson is thrown into Elm City's most disturbing mystery: a string of deaths where victims are found with blackened, burnt eyes and ice-cold skin—yet no cause of death can be determined by the city’s medical office. On his first shift, he and his new partner have a chance encounter with a suspect and their first lead. While adjusting to his new life in the Elm City, Eric catches the eye of the lead singer of a popular local band during one of their performances, sparking an electrifying fling. However, their connection to each other runs deeper than mere chance.

Kyra of the North

By David Decker

One can’t choose their parents or the life they were born into, but one can choose to be who they will become.

Born a Lowlander, Kyra lives on the outskirts of the city of Mountain Side. Growing up, she didn’t know her father, but her mother did what she could to ensure her daughter’s happiness. However, Kyra’s mother worries about what others might do to her daughter if they discover what she is capable of. Because of this, she keeps their life as quiet as possible and only ventures from their home when necessary to purchase supplies from the city.

Since turning seventeen, Kyra has become restless and wants to experience more than just their home and the fields around it. She wants to experience the city and the people within it. With the harvest upon them, Kyra convinces her reluctant mother to allow her to find work as a field hand. While working, Kyra is befriended by two teenage field workers from within the city, and she starts to experience things for the first time. As her world opens up, Kyra learns of a dark secret about her that forever changes her life and forces her to figure out her place in the world.
